The opening round of the 2026 WNBA Playoffs has already delivered two major statements. Las Vegas and New York each grabbed Game 1 victories, meaning Indiana and top-seeded Minnesota now enter Game 2 with their seasons on the line in the best-of-three format.
The early market supplied to SportsEdge360 has both elimination teams favored at home: Indiana Fever -1.5 at 1.96 against Las Vegas, while Minnesota Lynx -3.5 at 1.90 against New York.

LAS VEGAS ACES @ INDIANA FEVER
Las Vegas could hardly have made a stronger opening statement.
The defending champions took Game 1 102-85, shooting 59.4% from the floor. A’ja Wilson produced a playoff-career-high 38 points, while Chelsea Gray and Jackie Young combined for another 35 points and 18 assists.
That makes the early Game 2 market particularly interesting.
Despite Las Vegas winning Game 1 by 17 points, Indiana returns home as a narrow 1.5-point favorite. The reasoning is understandable: the Fever were excellent offensively during the regular season and won the season series against Las Vegas 2-1. Indiana’s attack averaged a league-record 96.0 points per game during the regular season.
But Indiana needs considerably more from Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell. The pair combined to shoot only 10-of-33 from the field in Game 1. Clark still distributed 10 assists, but Indiana cannot afford another inefficient shooting night from its star backcourt.
The other question is whether Indiana can find an answer for Wilson. Game 1 showed what happens when Las Vegas establishes her early and forces the Fever defense to collapse.
Indiana also enters the postseason without Tyasha Harris, whose broken left fibula ended her season.
SE360 VIEW
There is certainly a bounce-back argument for Indiana at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, but getting Las Vegas plus points after the Aces’ Game 1 performance makes the other side difficult to ignore.
Indiana has the offensive firepower to force a Game 3. However, until the Fever demonstrate that they can slow Wilson and disrupt Las Vegas’ efficient half-court offense, SE360 sees value in having the defending champions on the plus side of a short spread.
Early SE360 endorsement: LAS VEGAS ACES +1.5 @ 1.84
MINNESOTA LYNX @ NEW YORK LIBERTY
Perhaps the biggest surprise of Game 1 came in Minneapolis.
No. 8 seed New York walked into the home court of the WNBA’s No. 1 seed and defeated Minnesota 91-75. Breanna Stewart delivered a spectacular postseason performance with 34 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.
Minnesota now faces elimination despite finishing the regular season with a league-best 33-11 record.
The Lynx nevertheless opened as 3.5-point favorites for Game 2.
Minnesota has plenty of reasons to believe it can respond. Its regular-season body of work was outstanding, and a team coached by Cheryl Reeve is unlikely to approach an elimination game without significant adjustments.
But New York’s success against Minnesota is becoming difficult to dismiss as a one-game anomaly.
The Liberty won the 2026 regular-season series 2-1, then went into Target Center and won Game 1 by 16.
Minnesota’s challenge starts with defending Stewart without getting into foul trouble. Napheesa Collier and Natasha Howard both fouled out in Game 1, severely compromising Minnesota’s defensive options.
The Lynx also need much more offensive production from rookie Olivia Miles, who finished Game 1 with 11 points on 3-of-12 shooting and only one assist.
SE360 VIEW
Minnesota absolutely has the quality to extend this series, but laying 3.5 points against a Liberty team that has repeatedly caused the Lynx problems is a different proposition from simply asking who wins.
New York does not necessarily need another outright victory for this position to work. The +3.5 provides some protection if Minnesota produces the expected elimination-game response but the contest remains close.
Early SE360 endorsement: NEW YORK LIBERTY +3.5 @ 1.90
SE360 FINAL BOARD — 24 HOURS OUT
Aces +1.5 @ 1.84 — A EARLY LEAN
Liberty +3.5 @ 1.90 — A EARLY LEAN
These are day-before positions, not locked final calls. Injury reports, starting lineups and meaningful line movement should be checked closer to tip-off before the SE360 final board is confirmed.
One thing is already certain: Indiana and Minnesota have no margin for error. Win, and the series continues. Lose, and their 2026 season is over.
